Happy 70th Birthday to our NHS!

July 16, 2018  |  by Tessa Smith

To mark the 70th birthday of the National Health Service on Thursday 5th July 2018, the team at Nottingham City GP Alliance were delighted to be invited by Nottingham City Council to be a stallholder at the NHS Marketplace event.

The event, which took place from 10:30am until 4:00pm on Long Row in the city centre, was an opportunity for various health and social care provider and support organisations across Nottinghamshire to meet members of the public and share information about what they do. Fellow attendees included Nottingham University Hospitals, CityCare, Healthwatch and the Nottingham Recovery Network.

As well as promoting our new extended hours service and active signposting initiative, our GP+ nurses were on hand offering free mini health checks to the public. This included blood pressure checks, blood glucose tests and BMI calculations.

Dr Husein Mawji, GP and Secretary of the Alliance was there on the day and commented:

“It was fantastic to see so many members of the public taking the opportunity to undergo some health screening and showing an interest in leading a healthier lifestyle. Our team assessed and advised several hundred citizens, whom we hope will take the health promotion messages further.”
