NCGPA part of NIHR Primary Care Commercial Research Delivery Centre

We’re proud to be involved in a Nottinghamshire partnership, led by the University of Nottingham Health Service, that has been chosen as one of only 14 NIHR Primary Care Commercial Research Delivery Centres in England, and the only one here in the Midlands.

We are delighted to be part of this work and joining forces with:

* University of Nottingham Health Service (Cripps – hub lead)

* Brierley Park Medical Group, Mid Nottinghamshire

* Chilwell Valley and Meadows Practice, South Nottinghamshire

Across the country, more than £14 million has been invested to help expand commercial research in primary care. This means more opportunities for patients to take part in clinical trials through their GP practice, more research happening in community settings, and quicker access to new medicines, vaccines and therapies.

This achievement builds on years of research experience across partners, who have been working together to deliver high-quality primary care trials including with groups who often miss out on research opportunities. We’re excited to play our part in growing this area of work for Nottingham city.

Joanne Dennis, CEO, says:

“This award is a fantastic outcome for primary care in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Research has the power to improve lives, and by working together we can make sure more people get the chance to benefit. We’re proud to be part of this partnership and are excited to support the delivery of new clinical trials across our communities.”

Dr Jonathan Harte, Medical Director, says:

“This partnership opens the door to exciting research that will support innovation in primary care. It allows us to build on the expertise already in our system, learn from each other, and bring forward new treatments more quickly. We look forward to working closely with colleagues to make this a success.”
